Plate Recognizer, the leader in Automatic License Plate Recognition (APPR) software, remains committed to improving their ALPR software to effectively support variety of hardware.
Plate Recognizer has taken another big leap as we are proud to announce that our license plate recognition On-Premise SDK technology now supports Xilinx Zynq Boards.
What are Xilinx Zynq Boards?
Xilinx Zynq Boards are multiprocessor systems on a chip built on TSMC’s 16FinFET+ process technology that are used for several Embedded Processing applications.
The architecture of Xilinx Zynq UltraScale MPSoC includes multiple advanced ARM® based processors that scale from 32 to 64 bits and also supports virtualization.
What Makes Xilinx Zynq Boards So Awesome?
Xilinx UltraScale MPSoC boards provide the most efficient 64-bit ARMv8 application processors with the Cortex®-A53, real-time power efficient co-processors with the ARM® Cortex®-R5 and an OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0 compliant Mali™-400 MP2 graphics processing unit to leverage ARM’s leadership in embedded processors and its ecosystem.
Xilinx SoC strength tools like Vivado® Design Suite and PetaLinux can be used with Zynq boards to fully utilize its functionalities and maximize its power.
Some of the notable features Xilinx Zynq UltraScale MPSoC Architecture’s include:
- 64-bit Quadcore ARM Cortex-A53 Processors
- Dualcore ARM Cortex-R5 Real-Time Processors
- ARM Mali™-400MP Graphics Processor
- Configuration Security Unit
- DDR4/LPDDR4 Memory Interface Support
- 16FinFET+ Performance/Watt
- Vitis unified software platform for Design Abstraction
- Next-Generation AXI Interconnect
What Are Some Key Versions of Xilinx Zynq?
There are several versions of Xilinx Zynq, each having its unique powerful features and also upgrades on some existing features like memory capacity:
- Zynq 7000 SoC Artix Devices
- Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC CG Devices
- Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC EV Devices
- Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC with RF Data Converters
What is Plate Recognizer ALPR?
Our Plate Recognizer Snapshot ALPR software takes images as input and decodes the license plates in the image. We can include the vehicle’s make, model, type and color into the decoded output as well.
Our ALPR engine supports over 90 countries worldwide and handles—among other things—blurry plates, license plates at different angles, fast vehicles, etc.
Optimizing ALPR on Xilinx Zynq
The high processing CPU power and RAM of Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC Boards makes it very easy to install the entire machine learning ALPR code and fully optimize our ALPR algorithms on various Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC kits with high inference speed.
Also, since these versions of Xilinx Zynq boards are built around ARM processor architecture, they come with preloaded OS support feature. This lets Plate Recognizer easily port our ALPR software from Windows, Mac, Linux and other machines onto the Xilinx Zynq platform.
Installing ALPR on Xilinx Zynq
Plate Recognizer On-Premise SDK now supports the following versions of Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC Boards:
- Zynq 7000 SoC Artix Devices
- Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC CG Devices
- Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC EV Devices
- Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC with RF Data Converters
Just go here for the installation instructions for our Snapshot SDK on Xilinx Zynq.
Plate Recognizer Runs on Xilinx Zynq. Now What?
The new Xilinx Zynq Boards are just like supercomputers on a chip with thrilling features, high specs and high power efficiency.
It remains to be seen how much of embedded processing and machine learning applications will be optimized with this version of Xilinx Ultrascale boards as it offers endless possibilities for innovation.
Now, with this double-benefit combination, individuals and businesses of all types and sizes can use Plate Recognizer on Xilinx Zynq Boards to efficiently track vehicles for community safety, enforce parking lot policies, be informed when suspicious vehicles enter a school parking lot, and more.
We are very excited on what the Xilinx Zynq Boards can create with our Automatic Number Plate Recognition software. We see a very bright future in the world of deep learning as the Xilinx Zynq Boards can be applied into a variety of areas:
- Surveillance
