Reolink Camera ALPR Integration

We have created a simple, elegant, cost-effective way to get ALPR for Reolink Cameras!

Basically, upon motion or vehicle detection, the Reolink Camera sends an image via FTP to Snapshot Cloud.  We analyze the image for license plate recognition and show results in the PR Dashboard (which can be forwarded to the ParkPow ALPR Dashboard).

Reolink Cameras with just motion detection are suitable for use-cases where vehicle speeds are under 35 mph (e.g. parking, drive-thru).  Cameras with vehicle detection can support faster vehicle speeds (e.g. street and highway monitoring).

The integration works for the following Reolink Cameras below.  An * indicates that the camera has vehicle detection.

Depending on the camera, the alerts can be triggered based on the following events and more:

  • Vehicle detection.
  • Motion detection – where you can define the motion area.
  • Line crossing.
  • Intrusion.

Step 3.1. In your camera UI, go into Network > Advanced.  Click on the FTP Tab.

Fill in the information below.

  1. Server IP: ftp.platerecognizer.com
  2. Port No: (Leave Blank)
  3. Username: (Email of your Plate Recognizer account)
  4. Password: (Refer to the FTP credentials in our email)

When done, click Save.

Now, based on the events you’ve set, the Reolink Camera will send an image to our FTP in our cloud.

Once an image is processed, it is immediately removed from the FTP server.
